About one-quarter of the population has an allergy to cats. This allergy can consist of the cats’ saliva, urine or dander. The allergen can be anywhere in the house such as on carpets, counters and clothing.
A new drug is being tested to make people less sensitive to cat allergies. This study is being conducted worldwide to test whether a cat allergy vaccine could boost a person’s immune system. This in turn would prevent allergic reactions to cats.
